Survival Time

As the season is upon us, it can be wonderful time to share with others but also very stressful. I almost lost my mind a few days ago, something I had ordered as a special gift for one of my kids I thought was not delivered. As I talked to a friend, he reminded me the reason for this season. It’s not about all of the running around, spending money, etc. He was absolutely right and yes; I already knew it and it’s easy to get lost in the commercialized season. The reason for the season is to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. I’ve never lost sight of that, but I’m blessed and grateful to even have the means to give!

One of the key things that we also forget is the holiday season can be a time of survival for many. No, I don’t mean in the traditional sense of having a roof over our heads or food on the table. That first and foremost, I thank God to have that blessing. But it’s a time of survival in feeling full not physically but mentally and emotionally. Feeling content – having a complete peace of mind, feeling full spiritually and having loved ones just in your presence is one of the most beautiful and fulfilling things during this season. Personally, I’m blessed to have my family by blood – that love and pour into me more than I ever thought possible. They are my people always – my past, present, and future. But in this chapter of my life, I never thought it was possible to have extended family – those I thought would fad eventually, love lost, or they would lose connection with me but never did or even friends that became family. They are all my gifts wrapped in a pretty decorated box with unconditional love, trust, comfort, support, and not to mention my constant prayer warriors!

So, in this season, yes shower your people with that wrapped box – the traditional gift if you have the means but most importantly make that call, visit that elderly person alone, go by a quick visit, meet that special person for lunch, drop them a quick inspirational word…..Let them know you miss them, you love them, and on Christmas that THEY are important to you! While I’m blessed to have loved ones around me – I too have felt the quite time, the lonely moments, and it’s challenging for anyone during the holiday season.

Well, those that know me – know I love me some Gospel music so I will leave you with my song I’ve been blasting all week lol. “I Need You To Survive” by Mr. Walker. “I pray for you, You pray for me, You are important to me, I need you to Survive!”

Have a Very Merry Christmas full of love and joy!
